And the one that mother gives you don’t do anything at all…. I found myself singing that song well after I read this post. It’s my go to wow them at Kareoke. But it sure does lend itself to this whole article on practice. Keep your head!!!! Thanks for reminding me to stay steady and keep practicing.

“ Confidence in yourself. This is not just helpful but crucial for times like these when the world is unstable. You may encounter many situations for which you are not specifically trained. Your presence of mind allows you to be open to what is happening at any moment and take the actions that are needed.”

What a great post! It makes me feel both inspired and encouraged to include my practice as part of my daily routine, and to continue to remain open minded. And who wouldn't enjoy more confidence in today's world, thank you for sharing!!

“We both find this annoying because 1) we ARE breathing; and 2) we both know that there are specific therapeutic breathing methods that can calm or energize, and just saying breathe doesn’t do either.”

That really got me. Sometimes in my yoga practice my teachers says, “Find your breath…” and I know what she means but I have an inner trickster chuckle sometimes saying, “Did I lose it? Where did it go?”

Detlev's words will make a quote I will use when working with my athlete clientele about confidence. It's an area of mental performance I talk about a lot when training the mind. I absolutely love what he said here....“We just have to trust that we can meet the situation. We can have the confidence to handle whatever arises.” Thank you for sharing this story, the whole article is written beautifully. I am grateful to know meditation from you!

The idea of being steadfast to yourself and your practice leads to confidence is pure gold. The idea of sitting still with curiosity leads to no quick fixes but to a firm foundation to meet the world and all its glory and heartache. Honestly, the thing I love about meditation is there is no goal, no next rung to climb, no challenge but to sit silently and get familiar with my mind and myself and through this find stability, strength, and equanimity for myself and others.

So true! Taking the rime to get to know yourself is a precious practice which can lead to feeling supported, held, and seen.
